Fresh Faced Teen Beauty

Ah yes, to be young and vibrant again... This month, the girls and I thought we should bring those pesky little teen beauties into the mix. :-) I know I can speak for all of us when I say I've witnessed some not-so-appropriate makeup application on teenagers throughout the years. Hell, I was a teen smack in the middle of the 90s and you couldn't pay me to give up black eye liner. YOU COULDN'T PAY ME.

What month could be better to take on the teen challenge than graduation month? It's June! School is about to be out for summer and we're so excited to bring you these tips in time for the celebratory parties!

You may notice that there is mention of a Motives Teen Program. This program is an excellent way for teens to learn how to blend their love of makeup & curiosity of business at a young age, while getting mentored by an experienced entrepreneur. To find out about this program, contact whoever shared this link with you or feel free to reach out to any of us. My contact information is all over this website and the rest of the artists have their links in our original collaboration blog post from March. We are here for you and happy to help in any way that we can!

As always, if you like this post please share with your friends on social media. There's also a place for comments on the very bottom of the page. We'd love to hear from you! :-)

Meet Kelsey Borth! I met her Mother through the Beauty In All Ages Campaign and learned about Kelsey’s love for makeup. She has been teaching herself different techniques and is already super talented, so I decided to take her under my wing and mentor her! I love sharing my knowledge and love inspiring young ladies like Kelsey. She is also a young entrepreneur, so the Motives Teen program is perfect for her. She now has her own Motives Cosmetics website which enables her to earn retail profit and can earn extra money while learning from me.

I also used Kelsey as my model for this month’s teen collaboration. Here are the products that I used to achieve her look:

1.Motives Complexion Perfection Face Primer

2.Motives Eye Base

3.I applied Motives Liquid Mineral Powder in Linen with the Motives Foundation Brush

4.Motives-In The Nude Palette and I used the colors Cream, Fawn & Espresso for her eyes and Miami Glow bronzer

5.I applied the Motives Gel Eyeliner-Little Black Dress with an angled brush

6.Motives for LaLa Mineral Mascara-Black on her lashes

7.Motives Eyebrow kit to fill in her eye brows

8.For her lips, I used the new Motives Lip Candy-Cotton Candy

9.I set her makeup with Motives 10 Years Younger Makeup Setting Spray which will keep everything in place for 16 hours

My model for June's collaboration is the BEAUTIFUL Madison Laure. I've known Maddie since she was 7! I nannied her for a few years and our relationship blossomed into a sister-like bond. She is my heart. I was lucky enough to beautify her for her 15th birthday! I have never seen her with more confidence after I did her makeup. And this is exactly why I love doing what I do. She couldn't stop smiling and taking selfies. I prepped her skin with SKINTELLIGENCE cleanser and toner as well as moisturizer. 10 years younger was sprayed and applied throughout layers during the application to give her that fresh glow! Her eyes are glammed with the mattes of Motives DEMURE palette and the shimmers of the I DO palette. Little black dress gel liner gave her eyes a beautiful dimension. Liquid to mineral foundation in CREAM BEIGE was buffed through out her face and set with the translucent powder in light. I lightly contoured her with MOTIVES 3-in-1 highlight and contour kit. Her brows were perfected with MOTIVES 3-in-1 brow kit and retractable pencil in light brown. Her cheeks were finished with blush in LUSH. And I used MOTIVES lashes in 112. Which gave her a whole new level of confidence! I finished again with 10 years younger to give her that healthy, happy glow.

This is my new pal, Catie! She is such a cool kid, I was so excited that she wanted to help me with this project. I met Catie's mom, Kathy, while on set for a commercial shoot for her company. Kathy and I got to talking and she told me that her daughter loves makeup and is very skilled at applying it. She showed me some of her instagram pictures and the rest is history! Catie and I connected and kept in touch, so when I realized I needed a teen model for this month's collaboration, she was the one I called!

I started Catie off with Skintelligence pH Normalizer spray to balance her skin's pH levels and reduce any redness. After that I applied Skintelligence Daily Moisturizer all over her face.

I prefer to work on eyes first and this makeover was no different. I applied a very thin layer of Motives Eye Base eyeshadow primer all over the lid and under the brow. After that, I dusted the lightest matte shade in the Motives Element Palette where ever I put the eye base. Next up was the crease, which was a very gentle application of the medium matte brown from the Element Palette. My goal for Catie's look was a fresh face, not overly dramatic, so a lighter touch was necessary. Once the crease was slightly contoured, I took the darkest brown (also from the Element Palette) and ever-so-lightly blended it into the outer V area. Katie's eyes are so naturally gorgeous that she honestly doesn't need much of anything, but I wanted to make them "pop" and adding this very small amount of darker shadow was extremely helpful. For the lid, I patted on a thin layer of the Motives Luxe Creme Shadow in Gold Dust with my finger. This only went from the inner duct area to just over the line of where the darker shadow began towards the outer portion of her eye. This cream shadow is so beautiful, so chic, so bright and youthful, I just had to put it on her! I added a wedge-style gel eye liner (Motives Little Black Dress) and diffusing it with the black shadow in the Element palette. To finish off the look, I smudged some of the brown shadows into the bottom lash line and added mascara after curling her lashes.

For Catie's complexion, I custom blended a medium coverage for her. It was important to me for us to still see her adorable freckles which I'm happy to say I achieved, while still giving her the coverage she wanted. I extended the application up under her eyes in lieu of concealer. I wanted Catie to have a rosie glow to her cheeks and chose Motives Baby Doll for the blush color. I used the Motives 3-in-1 Contour, Bronze, & Highlight palette to do exactly that (contour, bronze, and highlight) and then finished her off with Motives Pink Sugar lipstick.

When we were done, I gave her my phone so she could take her own selfies. I think she did a great job! What do you think? Comment below!

Teen makeup is my favourite to do, as it can be fun, bright, and flirty! Number one place to start is with proper skin care, as I find most teens have dry flakey skin. So, for a good base, I started with two passes of the Skintelligence pH Skin Normalizer and the Skintelligence Daily Moisture Enhancer on both my models.

For Jillian's makeup, I wanted to play with one of my favourite makeup looks, a demure eye with a pop of colour on the lower lash line. To help soften the redness in Jillian's skin, I used the Perfection Face Primer first, followed by the Neutral Photo Finish Powder, buffing the powder in with a kabuki brush. I then used the Shimmer Stick in SunKissed for a healthy glow and Moonlight to highlight the skin. Gold Dust was used to create a soft base for the eyes. The eyeshadows were all chosen from the Dynasty Palette. I used Theia, Venus, Luna and Nefertiti to create a soft, contoured eye. I then lined the lower lash line with Electric Blue kohl liner and topped it with Cleopatra. The top lash line was done with the Onyx Kohl Liner and softened out with the Medusa Eye Shadow from the Dynasty Palette. Jillian's gorgeous lashes were brought to life with the LaLa Mineral Mascara in Black. To finish the look, Lollipop lip gloss makes the perfect pout!

For Meghan, I started with the Perfection Face Primer and the Cream Mineral Powder Foundation. I used the Fair Correction Perfection Concealer, applied with the No More Shine setting spray so the concealer won't budge. With Meghan's cool tones, I thought it would be fun to do a look featuring the Motives Rock Candy Eye Shadow. I started with the Gold Dust Cream Eyeshadow to make a waterproof base, then used the eye shadows Hour Glass, Vanilla, Timeless, Paper Doll and Rock Candy. Instead of blush, I used the powder Contour Kit to provide definition to Meghans features. The lips were softened with 40FY lip treatment and then Rock Candy eye shadow was pressed into the lips, because, well, we can!
