Well, this is awkward... This month's artist spotlight is featuring, ME! Since you can get the general idea of what I do for a living from my About Jacqueline page (check it out), I'm going to take this as an opportunity for you to get to know me personally a bit better. Let's do this.
I am a friendly & sarcastic 33 year old from suburbia, upper Bergen County, New Jersey. I now live in southern Bergen County, so you know, big change there. :-) I LOVE my family, my friends, makeup, skincare, baby animals, comedy, good food, ice cream, & music (alt rock, metal & 90s hip hop, most of all). Metallica, Alice in Chains, Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down, Beastie Boys, Foo Fighters, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliot, Snoop Dogg, & Dr. Dre are my peoples, but I also have major love (Major Love) for Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, Norah Jones, Heart, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Billy Joel, Elton John, Adele, and even Justin Timberlake. The male celebrities that I find the most <3 kissable <3 are Jake Johnson, Chris Pratt, Jason Segel, Michael Weatherly, & Jason Sudeikis. My celebrity girl crushes are Charlize Theron, Emma Stone, and Demi Lovato. Having said that, you should know that my husband is the bomb.com and my very best friend. He is not only hilarious and the most kissable IRL, but also the most squeezable of all of the dudes in all the land! Is that weird? Stop judging me! :-P
I have one major pet peeve. Those who know me best, know that I dislike being called Jackie. We all have weird things that annoy us, right? That's mine. Every time someone calls me Jackie, an angel loses its wings. That's a fact. But anyway... If you can't call me Jacqueline, Jac or Jaxx works just fine.
When I'm not hustling my business game, listening to audio books (Robert Kiyosaki, Grant Cardone, Dale Carnegie to name a few of my fave authors) or at boxing class, I enjoy binge watching "my shows" on Netflix and Hulu. Some of these shows (old & new) include: New Girl, Stranger Things, Arrested Development, Community, Orange in the New Black, Casual, Roadies, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, Game of Thrones, How I Met Your Mother, That 70s Show, Freaks & Geeks, Workaholics, Broad City, Girls, You're the Worst, Silicon Valley, Playing House, The League, BoJack Horseman, Friends, and Halt & Catch Fire. My favorite movies of all time are Wayne's World & PCU and I (brilliantly?) find a way to quote them pretty much daily.
I am the person who arrives at a destination anywhere from 30-60 minutes early. Being 90 minutes early is not unheard of, because that means I get to really chill out and grab a cup of coffee. It's relaxing to me, having those calming moments before working. Being late is not a thing in my life and I actually find it disrespectful when others are.
I LOVE my career as a Makeup Artist. I have the distinct pleasure of making people look and feel beautiful. When a client leaves my chair with a bright & confident smile on her face, I can't express the satisfaction that overwhelms me. Knowing that I have cultivated the skills to enhance someone's natural beauty is something I am very proud of. Transforming a face completely is another fun skill, but my true love is enhancing what is already there. <3 <3
I work VERY hard. It's not uncommon for me to work weeks straight without a day off. I do this now so that I can rest later. Thanks to my side business (a little thing called the Shopping Annuity) I will not be waiting to retire at the age of 65 years old. I will be at LEAST semi-retired by the time I'm 40. Mark. My. Words.
On the contrary to what some who follow my social media accounts may think, I don't enjoy being in front of the camera. The whole selfie craze is something I do for promotional purposes and would not be something I'd do in real life, if it didn't help my business. I'm more of a "behind the scenes" type of gal. :-)
I love to laugh! A witty sense of humor is the quality I find most attractive in a person. If we can make EACH OTHER laugh (that's a biggie), we will have a solid relationship.
So this has been a bit uncomfortable, since I'm not used to talking so much about myself. At this time, I want to hear from those who know me. If you have anything to add to this addition of Artist Spotlight, please comment in the section below. What should readers know about me that I haven't already shared? XOXO
